Frangos Frangulis:We are ready to help Armenia to improve relations with NATO

The delegation lead by the head of the ground troops headquarter of Greece, colonel-general Frangos Frangulis is in Armenia on two days working visit. Colonel- general Frangos Frangulis met the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, the head of Armenia’s Armed forces, colonel-general Yuri Khachaturov.Today, the delegation visited the monument of Tsitsernakaberd to honor the victims of the Armenian genocide.

He answered journalists’ questions and defined Armenian -Greek cooperation level by superlative degree.

“We don’t speak about the level but about the brotherhood between the two countries. Brothers don’t speak about the level,” he said.

Armenia is the member of CSTO and strengthens strategic relations with Russia. Frangulis assures that NATO member states refer to it calmly.

“CSTO is an internationally known organization and it is good that Armenia is a member of it. If Armenia decides to improve relations with NATO we are ready to help,” he added.

The Armenian officers graduated from Greek military educational institution hold responsible positions. Frangulis says he is proud that they have preferred Greek schools. He is not for the first time in Armenia. He watered the tree planted by him years ago and laid a wreath for the memory of the victims of genocide

“I think it is mandatory to respect the history of other states. State that has so many victims and has become independent must remember its history. In my country, three thousand years ago, in the times of the Troyan war, the war was being stopped to honor the dead people,” he concluded.

Armenian people proved its courage, Greek General says
A Greek delegation headed by Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lt. General Frangoulis Frangos visited the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims, Tsitsernakaberd.

General Frangoulis Frangos laid a wreath at the Memorial, whereafter he visited the Tsitsernakaberd museum.

The General was shown the exhibits and documents. He was told about the Armenians’ heroic struggle, which saved thousands of lives.

The museum management presented the Greek General with an album about the tragic events in Ottoman Turkey early in the 20th century. General Frangoulis Frangos presented the museum with a statuette, a symbol of Greece’s support for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Any people’s history should be respected. “Freedom requires courage,” Pericles said. The Armenian people, which sustained such great losses, but gained independence and proved it does not lack courage, the Greek General said.

It has been Frangoulis Frangos’ second visit to Armenia.
