Σύμφωνα με το REUTERS κατόπιν απόφασης του ίδιου του Ρώσου Προέδρου Βλαντιμίρ Πούτιν, η Ρωσική Αστυνομία προχώρησε απόψε σε συλλήψεις 300 Ισλαμιστών στον χώρο όπου προσευχόντουσαν.Η Ρωσία θα διοργανώσει τους επόμενους Χειμερινούς Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες και υπάρχει έκδηλη ανησυχία όσον αφορά τις δραστηριότητες των Ισλαμιστών κυρίως στην περιοχή του Βορείου Καυκάσου. Ο ίδιος ο Πούτιν δεν δίστασε να δηλώσει ότι: “Η Ρωσία πρέπει να καταπολεμήσει τα φαινόμενα εξτρεμισμού (ριζοσπαστικό Ισλάμ) που προβάλλουν κυρίως οι αποσχιστικές τάσεις στην Ρωσική Δημοκρατία”.
